Support and Men were two terms brought together by counsellor Norman Irons and Mental Health Nurse Jon Gladstone, when they co-founded the Falmouth Men`s Group together back in 2001. In recognition of the many issues which affect Men and the reluctance by many men to actively seek help and support, the idea of the Men`s Group is simple: to offer help and support to men. The idea of this website is to extend that arm of support further still.

What`s Support and Men all about?

Sadly, Norman passed away suddenly in October, 2006. On this website you can find Norman`s original writings, which focus on his own life experiences as a Man and his reasons for wanting to set-up a Men`s Group: Real Man Or Real Person? is a short article exploring just what it means to be a man in today`s society, whereas The Story Behind This Site tells of the original motivation that spawned this website. If you`re thinking about joining a men`s group then you may want to take a look at What`s in a Men`s Group For Me?; you can also read a little about The Anchor Project Men`s Group (which is us, by the way). We feel that these writings sum up the Men`s Group ethos perfectly and hence are well worth a read for those who wish to learn a little more about what it is we`re actually doing here...

Who is Support and Men for? Can I get involved?

If you`re now thinking, "Hey, this sounds interesting," then we would love to hear your views, both on our website and on men`s issues in general. We appreciate feedback from everyone, male and female. You can become involved with this website either by participating in discussions on our Discussion Board or perhaps by sending us something you have written and would like us to publish on this website...

We encourage you to make use of the Site Search facility, which will allow you to find articles containing the keyword(s) you specify. We also have some Word Games which you are free to play, although we do ask users to complete the quick Free Sign Up process first - don`t worry, it`s free and we don`t send unsolicited email - registration will also grant you access to the range of future interactive features we have planned for this site...

We hope you enjoy this website as much as we enjoy developing it. If you are able to contribute, then please do so, and help us develop this site into the comprehensive support resource we would all love to see it become!

Kind Regards,
SupportandMen.org.uk
